Danish Rafiq

Danish is a nine-year-old very active boy. He is the only child of his parents. His father works as a road cleaner for a corporation, while his mother, Sonia, stays home to take care of Danish.

Before Danish was born, Sonia had two pregnancies that resulted in babies with abnormalities. Instead of seeking medical help, the family consulted with individuals involved in witchcraft, believing that the babies’ conditions were due to bad spirits. Unfortunately, both children passed away.

When Sonia was pregnant with Danish, she decided to seek medical advice instead of following traditional practices. Doctors advised that the health issues in the family could be due to consanguineous marriages.

They recommended a blood transfusion for Danish, which was done and helped him survive. Despite his initial weaknesses, Sonia worked diligently on his health, resisting pressures from relatives to take him to spiritual healers.

Danish has been attending our center for the last year and a half. He was initially very weak, unable to walk or speak properly, though he could understand spoken language. Now, Danish sees himself as a class leader; he’s become very active, though his speech is not clear, he communicates his needs effectively.

His mother shared that he now goes to a nearby store to buy candies, indicating an improvement in his sense of understanding and independence. Danish enjoys playing games on mobile phones.

Sonia is extremely grateful for the support from our organization, noting significant improvement in Danish’s condition. It also allows her some personal time while Danish is at the center.
