Kabeer Amer
Kabeer is a six-year-old quite boy, who appears to be only three years old. His mother works as a domestic worker, while his father works as a janitor. Kabeer was born at home with the assistance of a local midwife, and no immediate medical information about his health was provided at birth.
As he grew, his parents began to notice physical problems. Upon recognizing his weaknesses, they took him to a doctor who, after conducting several tests, diagnosed Kabeer with both mental and physical disabilities. The doctor suggested that treatment could help improve his condition.
Kabeer was on medication for three years, which led to slight changes in his behavior, but the parents had to stop the treatment because the cost was too high for his parents to sustain.
Two months ago, Kabeer started attending our organization; initially, his mother use to carry him and bring him to the school, but now he benefits from our pick-up and drop-off service.
When Kabeer first came to us, he had a habit of biting his hands or anything within reach. He was unable to speak or walk at that time. However, his parents have observed changes in him since he joined our classes. Kabeer now responds to spoken instructions, seeks attention, and attempts to communicate his needs by trying to speak, though he has not yet succeeded in forming clear words.
We are currently providing Kabeer with physical, speech, and occupational therapies, with the hope that these interventions will significantly improve his condition in the near future.
